Hi!

My name is David Aston. I was born in Dayton Ohio in 1969 and grew up in Bellevue Washington. I met my wife, Brenda at Western Washington University. I have 2 children, Liam, age 12 who is in the troop, and Eryn, age 10.

I have been an elementary school teacher for 18 years with Peninsula School District and I have been the PE Specialist at Voyager Elementary for the last 9 years. I have taught grades 2,3,5 and been also a Computers, Science, and Math specialist. Before teaching I worked in a residential group treatment center working with juvenile sex offenders. I have also worked with a small police department as the custodian of evidence, maintaining the the chain of custody between the police department and the courts.

I became an Eagle in 1987 with troop 606 in Bellevue Washington

My two favorite things about scouting are first, watching boys grow into young men. I love seeing our Scouts taking on a leadership role, witnessing and encouraging hard work, achieving success and building confidence and momentum to their next leadership position. It's a remarkable process this time of their life and I love being a part of it. And my second favorite thing is being outdoors with scouts who are learning new skills and experiencing the outdoors in ways they possibly have not experienced before.

Troop 212 has always prided themselves on building young boys into men and leaders and teaching skills to become outdoorsmen. By being an active troop in the Gig Harbor area we have set the tone for this. My hope for the future is to maintain the strong value of leadership and skills in place and grow our troop with opportunities to lead and participate in the community as servant leaders.
